The purpose of the site is to allow people interested in Amateur Radio to learn about our organization. We will be including past newsletters, information on the club, updates on events we are doing, and anything else we think would be interesting. Please stop by often and check out our site.

Club Repeater 147.150+ (PL 100.0)
Club meetings held the 3rd Monday of every Month at Bay De Noc Community College.
We’re currently working on an overhaul of the website, and as soon as that as ready for launch it will also include some more information about the site and hopefully make it easier to keep things current.
Keep an eye out for it. It should change as soon as some technical issues are sorted out with the new system.
With summer drawing nearer, the annual U.P. Hamfest hosted by DCARS and Bay de Noc Community College is on the horizon. It will take place at 9 AM EDST on the 3rd of August.
For more information, click on the U.P. Hamfest in the menu bar above.
One thing that has been holding us back from transitioning the new website over as the main one is a lack of things to display. Les Elder (WA8LE) provided us with some pictures of the clubhouse (equipment, the site, etc.) and one of our repeater tower in Rapid River. These are now the new header images and they will alternate at random as you browse around the website. A big thank you goes to him for doing this!
Additionally, if you check out our gallery you can see more pictures of events some of the club members have been involved in over time.
Thank you for visiting and check back often!
Thanks to the efforts of Dave Palmgren (N8DP) and his technician license class, four new amateur radio operators have been brought into the ham radio community. The students completed a four and a half week course, and completed the following VE testing March 4th, 2012. The students were: Alana Eklund, Randy Jernigan, Maureen Potvin, and Justin Soulia.
This was Dave’s last class due to changes made over time to the technician license tests which now differs from the teaching material Dave used to instruct students since the beginning. Dave will be taking a break from teaching the course, and the club will use the hiatus to update the existing teaching materials to better match the tests given today.
The officers of DCARS would like to extend a very large THANK YOU to Dave for his time and dedication to teaching the tech classes all these years. The club would also like to extend their congratulations to the latest Tech’s.
The new Techs and their instructor from left to right are Maureen Potvin KD8SDE,
Justin Soulia KD8SDC, Dave Palmgren – N8DP, Randy Jernigan KD8SDD and
Alana Eklund KD8SDB.
Its that time of year again!
The Technician license class will be held at Bay College, Room CB 222
beginning March 6th and ending March 29th. Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7pm to 9pm.
There is no charge for the classes.
